The toilets for boys and girls were renovated, which resulted in improved attendance, especially for girls. A comfortable seating arrangement was created for the students by providing benches. Crop Residue Management Highlighted at Partners’ Meet
S M Sehgal Foundation Trustee and CEO, Ms. Anjali Makhija,
spoke at the Godrej & Boyce CSR Partners Meet 2024 on Feb 22 at the Godrej
Plant, Mumbai, about crop residue management project outcomes in Punjab carried
out in partnership with Godrej & Boyce. Chief Development Officer Ms.
Anjali Godyal also represented Sehgal Foundation at the event.
The meet provided a wonderful opportunity for
cross-learning and interaction with other partners of Godrej and Boyce,
alongside felicitations to recognize the collaborative efforts of partners.

Partner's Meet Presentation at New Delhi
Celebrating the shared commitment to making a meaningful impact, S M Sehgal Foundation presented the Project Vriddhi partnership project with Nestle India at the partner's meeting on February 13, 2024, organized by Nestle. It was an opportunity for Nestle's partners to share and learn from each other across thematic areas. Ms. Debika Goswami, senior program lead, shared about the remarkable transformations of rural villages under Project Vriddhi.

The global operations senior leadership team of Mercer visited the newly constructed pond in the village Bhirawati, Nuh, Haryana, on February 22, 2024, which they supported under their CSR program. The panchayat felicitated the guests and presented the pond to the community and village committee. Plantation was done by the team to further rejuvenate the landscape around the pond, along with wall paintings promoting water conservation.

District Collector Applauds School Transformation
|
District Collector Mr. Ashish Gupta (IAS) paid a
surprise visit to Government Senior Secondary School, Mahuakhurd, Alwar, which
was transformed under the Transform Lives one school at a time program.
Impressed by rainwater harvesting, the digital library, and the BaLA concept,
he commended S M Sehgal Foundation's partnership and lauded the sustained
infrastructure interventions.

Empowered Mango Farmers in Kolar
|
In collaboration with the District Horticulture
Department and NGOs, S M Sehgal Foundation organized a women’s mango fruit
farmers training program in Kolar, Karnataka. Participant included Mr.
Kumaraswamy, deputy director of the Horticulture Department; Ms. Shruchi Singh,
senior program lead for South India at S M Sehgal Foundation; and Ms. Nidhi
Nischal from Seventh Sense Talent Solutions. Topics included financial
management, accessing government schemes, cost-cutting, production planning,
and marketing strategies.

DPS International Students
Visit Sehgal Foundation
|
A two-day capacity-building and exposure visit was
orchestrated at S M Sehgal Foundation for DPS International, Gurugram students.
The dynamic group of 5th graders immersed themselves in captivating quiz
sessions while gaining profound insights into the innovative concept of “green building”
exemplified by Sehgal Foundation. Informed about the foundation’s impactful
work in social development, the interactions with these budding minds resulted
in a rejuvenating experience.

Working Professionals and Students Group Visit
|
Two groups, a working professional student
group of FH Vorarlberg University, Austria, and another from the Master's in
Social Work program from Yashwantrao School of Social Work, visited S M Sehgal
Foundation to learn about best practices across programs and sustainability
approaches. The FH Vorarlberg students were in India as part of their
collaboration with Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH).

Ms. Anjali Makhija at the 18th UN GCNI
|
Ms. Anjali Makhija, CEO & trustee at S M Sehgal Foundation, recently participated as a plenary speaker on “Advancing Water Resilience for Forward Faster 2030” at the 18th UN GCNI National Convention. She emphasized how water resilience efforts affect communities and agriculture. Strategies were discussed for the private sector to ensure long-term sustainability post-handover of catchment programs to communities.

Collaborative Launch: Spoken Tutorial

S M Sehgal Foundation's CR Connect, IIT Bombay, and CR Kadal O Sai launched the Spoken Tutorial platform. This acclaimed educational tool is dedicated to delivering top-notch education and information in English and vernacular languages across India.
As part of this initiative, the radio series "Dainik Jeevan Mein Vigyan" was inaugurated during the Regional Community Radio Sammelan in Chennai, coinciding with World Radio Day. Asia Regional Learning Exchange
|
The Asia Regional Learning Exchange took place February 5–9, 2024, at ENPHO in Nepal. Water, Research, and Training collaborated with partners, including CAWST from Canada, ENPHO from Nepal, and WASH SDO from Cambodia, to discuss vital climate change and resilience topics in the WASH sector.

Conference on Societal Inclusion

Ms. Arti Manchanda Grover, senior manager of Public Relations, S M Sehgal Foundation, participated in the “Societal Inclusion: Taking a Step Forward” panel at IHC, Delhi. The event was attended by representatives from diverse sectors, including the government, and chief guest, Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture.

Workshop on Youth in Agroecology in Nepal

Foundation, participated in the “Youth in Agroecology: A new
generation leverages climate-resilience in agriculture” by ICIMOD (International
Centre for Integrated Mountain Development) and Deutsche Gesellschaft
fur International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) under Green Resilient Agricultural
Productive Ecosystems: Field of Action 2 (GRAPE FA 2) in Nepal.
The workshop addressed tackling
climate-change challenges in agriculture.

with minors in chemistry and healthcare management, is a full-time clinical
research coordinator and a part-time student preparing for medical studies,
passionate about leveraging research to improve global healthcare. Her focus is
assessing mental health services in rural areas, examining factors like
nutrition, childbirth, and education, and particularly evaluating the impact of S M Sehgal Foundation's initiatives on women's well-being.

Kareena, a first-year MIT engineering student,
champions social change through technology. Her World Water Crisis Awareness
Campaign, including the podcast "One Drop At A Time," sheds light on
global water issues. She works hands-on in rural India, implementing solutions.
She also holds leadership roles in MIT's Water, Food, and Agriculture Prize and
Engineers Without Borders.
