Second Capacity Building and Experience Sharing Workshop: Jalagam

In collaboration with DCB Bank and NIRDPR as the knowledge partner, the S M Sehgal Foundation team organized the second workshop in the "Jalagam" series, focusing on capacity-building and experience-sharing. This event took place in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) on December 20, 2023.
Panel sessions featured discussions around models of
community participation on the village level, the role of village-level
institutions in building climate resilience, and policies and practices in
water security.

Annual Learning Exchange: HWTS Network India Chapter
|
|
|
The Household Water Treatment and Safe Storage (HWTS) Network India Chapter hosted its fourth Learning Exchange in collaboration with CAWST, Canada, and sponsored by P&G India. The event took place in the S M Sehgal Foundation Auditorium from November 29 to December 1, 2023, with an overarching theme of "Safe Drinking Water for All.” Participants representing government officials, project implementers, academia, corporates, NGOs, and researchers from various parts of India, Canada, and Nepal gathered to discuss promoting HWTS.

Following the implementation of the solar-powered lift irrigation system, farmers in Bajrikot initiated the cultivation of vegetables for commercial purposes. This noteworthy transformation enables families to generate an additional income ranging from Rs. 5,000 to 10,000 by selling vegetables. Previously, they had struggled to derive revenue from vegetables except potatoes, which did not fetch favorable market prices. Read more . . .

Holistic Rural Development Model Showcased at Partner’s Meet
|
|
S M Sehgal Foundation
exhibited its Holistic Rural Development Projects (HRDP) under HDFC Bank
Parivartan ongoing in districts Nuh and Mahendragarh at the regional level
partners' meet from December 5–7, 2023, conducted in Delhi/NCR.
The HRDP model
showcased in the gallery helped visitors understand the integrated development
approach for sustainability throughout the project design and implementation.

Krishi Jyoti Mahila Sammelan
|
|
Mosaic India and S M Sehgal Foundation teams witnessed the achievements of women farmers managing nutri gardens as they gathered to celebrate their successes in the Mahila Kisan Sammelan on December 12, 2023, in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, under the Krishi Jyoti project being implemented in the district.
The determined efforts of these women to manage their nutri gardens are ensuring adequate nutrition for their families and providing them with additional income. A field visit program was also organized to interact with women farmers. More than 350 women farmers participated in the event, and ten women were acknowledged with the Best Nutri Garden Award.
The Krishi Jyoti project has 2,100 nutri gardens in forty villages to its credit, in addition to several agricultural interventions, including a package of practices for lead crops, water-saving irrigation techniques, and farm mechanization.

Showcasing Impact at IICA-Organized Responsible Business Conference
|
|
Sehgal Foundation, in partnership with Godrej & Boyce, attended the IICA-organized Conference on Responsible Business for Corporates under ESG and co-managed the exhibit stall to showcase the impact of the Godrej-supported Project Pragati through posters and a model of the super seeder machine. Guests from the government included the Secretary, Minister of Corporate Affairs, and corporates who showed interest in crop residue management. Mr. Prafull More, associate chief manager, CSR, represented Godrej, and Mr. Subhransu, Ms. Bandana, Mr. Sam, and Mr. Arjun represented Sehgal Foundation.

Ms. Simmi Dalla from Teach for Life visited Digital Libraries at the Government Senior Secondary School, Sahodi, and Mahua Khurd Village, Alwar. S M Sehgal Foundation has established the libraries under the Transform Lives one school at a time program.

Community Interface Meeting
|
S M Sehgal Foundation
recently hosted an interface meeting emphasizing community involvement in
school development. The event, attended by 111 participants, featured key
figures such as Mr. Neki Ram, district education officer; Mr. Manoj Sharma,
additional district program officer; Ms. Madhu Bhargav, chief block education
officer. The
participants commended Sehgal Foundation for its contributions and shared success
stories from the TL program, showcasing increased enrollment and reduced
absenteeism.

Annual Sexual Harassment Awareness Session
|
Observing Sexual Harassment at Workplace Prevention Week, S M Sehgal Foundation organized an awareness session with NSS at K R Mangalam University. Facilitated by Dr. Shobha Jeet, associate professor at the School of Legal Studies, K R Mangalam University. The session imparted attendees with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively to instances of sexual harassment, including familiarization with reporting procedures and available support mechanisms.
