School Management Committees felicitated by Education Department Six School Management Committees (SMCs) have been selected and felicitated for their outstanding work in the school development activities in the government schools of Umrain Block, Alwar district, Rajasthan, by the Education Department. Four SMCs belong to government schools transformed under S M Sehgal Foundation’s Transform Lives one school at a time program. The foundation’s contribution to building and enhancing the capacities of SMCs has been acknowledged by the Education Department.

Spreading the Transformation Wave The Digital Classroom model first demonstrated in Alwar district of Rajasthan under Transform Lives one school at a time program was replicated in the Pali District of Rajasthan by District Administration in Bihar. The Government School in Bela Panchruki, Samastipur district, Bihar, was handed over to the community after the transformation. The school was upgraded to Senior Secondary level after work was completed by S M Sehgal Foundation.

Supporter’s Visit Dr. Arun Maheshwari, a prominent supporter of the Transform Lives one school at a time program, visited the Government Senior Secondary School at Chapera Village, Nuh, Haryana, on March 4, 2023. This school and three other government schools were transformed with his generous support. He interacted with school authorities and girl students of the Digital and Life Skills Awareness trainings to understand the impact of the school transformations.

World Water Day celebrations S M Sehgal Foundation teams celebrated World Water Day, March 22, aligning with this year’s agenda of Accelerating Action. A rally with school students was organized in Uttam Gram Initiative in village Ravalkole, Medchal, Telangana. The objective was to create awareness of water conservation among villagers. Rally echoed the slogans focusing on saving water, No Water No Life. Water budgeting exercise was conducted tonight with women leaders of UGI village, Ravalkole, Medchal, Telangana. Water Day meetings and awareness sessions were also carried out at other project locations across eleven states.

Mahila Kisan Sammelan S M Sehgal Foundation team organized a Mahila Kisan Sammelan on March 12, 2023, under Hytech CSR project in Medak, Telangana. It was attended by 850 Women Farmer Club members and more than 300 other people along with district-level authorities. Women farmers shared their experiences and success stories. Some progressive women farmers were felicitated on the occasion. S M Sehgal Foundation trustee and CEO, Ms. Anjali Makhija, also attended the Sammelan and shared about the Foundation's work, along with special emphasis on promoting women-led empowerment in communities.

Training on WASH Promotion Water, Research, and Training team at S M Sehgal Foundation conducted a workshop on “Community WASH promotion” for Laya team and volunteers at Addateegala, Andhra Pradesh
between March 2-7, 2023. The workshop aimed to bring WASH behavior change for healthy living among the Adivasi population. The trainees also did hands-on assembling of the ceramic pot filter, including preparing raw materials for filters and clay mixing for making pots.

Inauguration of transformed school Under the Krishi Jyoti project, supported by the Mosaic Company and Mosaic Company Foundation, S M Sehgal Foundation organized the inauguration of the transformed Government Girls Senior Secondary School at Balawas Village and of the check dam at Biwala Ki Dhani village in Bansur block, Alwar, Rajasthan, on March 3, 2023. Mr. Robin Edwin, managing director, Mosaic India, graced the occasion along with Mr. Shashikant Bhende, general manager, Mosaic India, Dr. Chandra, agronomist, Mosaic India, and Sehgal Foundation team. The village sarpanch, School Administration and SMC chairman also participated in the event.

World Tuberculosis Day observed Community radio Alfaz-e-Mewat organized an event on World TB Day, March 24, at Community Health Center, Firozepur Jhirkha, Nuh, Haryana, under The TB Challenge program with ASHA workers. ASHA workers are the key link in delivering TB treatment. The District TB officer and Superintendent Medical officer were also present at the event, which shared important information on TB prevention.

Women's Day celebrations International Women’s Day, March 8, was celebrated across project locations involving multiple stakeholders. Villages under S M Sehgal Foundation’s Uttam Gram initiative engaged to recognize local women achievers. Special events were also held with the Women Farmer Interest Groups, part of the Farmer Producer Organizations project. The women sang and danced, celebrating their achievements on this special day.

World Water Day Water is the engine driving development. On World Water Day, Mr. Salahuddin Saiphy, principal lead, Water Management, S M Sehgal Foundation, presented his learnings as a water management expert for water-related issues in a webinar by the Civil Engineering Society. He also attended the National Seminar on "Water: Social Dimension & Gender" at SP college, Sirohi, Rajasthan, and shared Sehgal Foundation's work and perspective on social dimension and gender equality.
