FPOs Buyer and Seller Meet
A buyer-seller meet was organized under the Bolstering
FPOs-Walmart project with 500 farmers of five FPOs of Kolar on Jan 24. Sixteen
input sellers and eighteen output buyers attended the program. District director, Agriculture; district director, Horticulture; KVK head; assistant director,
Horticulture, and other people from the agriculture department attended the
program.

MIT/SMSF Bullkey Project Visit A two-day focused visit on access to machinery and its operations within the small-marginal farmer section was conducted by engineers from MIT in villages of district Nuh, Haryana, and Aurangabad, Maharashtra, under the MIT and S M Sehgal Foundation Bullkey Project.

US University Students Visit Rural Development Work Students of St Catherine University in Minnesota participated in an exposure visit to S M Sehgal Foundation (Jan 9–12, 2023) to see firsthand the rural development work in Nuh and Alwar districts and get an overview of S M Sehgal Foundation development work in twelve states across India. A Purdue University group participated in the short India Course visit from Dec 28, 2022–Jan 3, 2023.

A Government Citizen Interface
Meeting
A multi-stakeholder interface meeting was organized on Jan 18 at
Narnaul in the presence of representatives from the government and academia with
Chief Guest Shri Prem Kumar, DHO, Mahendragarh. Attended by 125 farmers, the
session focused on existing schemes for individuals and groups from line
departments and innovations required in the agriculture sector. Enthusiastic participation from
the women attendees depicted a substantial change in the recognition of women
as farmers.

National Meet for Rural Youth Changemakers
Vikas Jha, principal lead, Local
Participation and Sustainability, addressed about 100 rural youth changemakers at National Meet for Rural Youth Changemakers, Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat, Delhi, on Jan 9 organized by The Ashoka Initiative. The objective of the meeting was to share success stories, peer group learning and idea exchange and planning action. Vikas shared his experiences and insights for planning local initiatives in rural India.

Nestle Partners Meet
At a partnership meet on Jan 18, Debika Goswami, senior program lead, Local Participation and Sustainability, shared about Project Vriddhi, an integrated rural development project in five villages in Nuh, Haryana, implemented since 2019. Project Vriddhi includes conserving and harvesting water, and improving farm livelihoods, improving the delivery of public services, particularly related to education, nutrition, health and sanitation, among others.

G20 Third MHM India Summit Pooja O. Murada, principal lead, Outreach for Development, led a panel on the role of CSR initiatives in the promotion of MHM (menstrual health management). Pooja chaired the session with panelists from nonprofit CSR foundations and corporates including Padma Shri awardee, S Damodaran, at the Third MHM India Summit,
Jan 11–12, held under the G20 banner.

Women’s Economic Forum Anjali Makhija, CEO and trustee of S M Sehgal Foundation, and Neema Joshi, manager, Partnerships, took part in the 84th AWEF Annual Women’s Economic Forum at JW Marriott Aerocity, New Delhi on Dec 28, 2022. Anjali spoke about the roles and contributions of women in the agriculture sector.

Pashu Sakhis: Delivering services for livestock in villages
Livestock contributes 25% to the agriculture GDP of the nation. The Pashu Sakhi Model under the HDFC Bank Parivartan Project implemented by S M Sehgal Foundation is creating an impact on the ground as these rural women trained as pashu sakhis are delivering primary healthcare for livestock in consultation with the government veterinary department and livestock assistants.
